Overview
Give your children a richer experience of the natural world. Build their respect for the environment while enabling child-led learning and independence.
Early years settings and primary schools can take part in engaging sessions on a beautiful Hackney marsh at one of the Hackney Forest School sites near the canal. Those taking part in Forest School have experiences like never before, in an exciting and unfamiliar natural setting – a precious asset in urban London.
What's included?
We offer blocks of six Forest School weekly sessions for up to 30 children. These are led by the Forest School Lead based at Clapton Park Children's Centre. Sessions cover all areas of the curriculum and support children to engage and develop their understanding of sustainability, love and care.
We have found that blocks of six sessions offer a wide range of opportunities for children to learn and practise new skills, and that we can evidence the impact on children’s learning and development over such a short period. Participating settings will have access to the changing facilities and use of resources at Clapton Park Children’s Centre, and will access Hackney Marshes for the sessions.
The site is risk assessed on a regular basis.
What our customers think
“Really enjoyed the outdoor set up. The youngest ones liked the magnifiers. Being outdoors and being able to use tools even with the reception children was a real surprise”
Hulya Ucar, Reception Teacher, Dania School
"Forest School continues to be a wonderful learning experience for the children at our school. It provides the children with an opportunity to be outdoors in a natural and stimulating environment where they can have real life experiences to support their understanding of the world. The holistic and child-centered approach has helped to develop and strengthen language acquisition and oracy. It also provides them with wonderful opportunities to use and refine their fine and gross motor skills."
Reception teacher, Morningside Primary School
