Promoting children and young people’s skills and independence by facilitating their participation in everyday activities
Our services support children aged 0-18 who have difficulties with everyday tasks due to a disability, developmental delay or co-ordination difficulty.
We offer advice and/or treatment working on developing children’s ability to participate in everyday tasks such as washing, dressing, play, school based skills, community access and meal preparation.
Children's occupational therapy
The Children's Occupational Therapy service works in partnership with schools to enable children with additional needs to access and participate in activities.
In addition to the NHS service, schools can purchase a menu of tailored and evidence-based support to help empower students to live meaningful lives and prepare them for adulthood, by increasing their independence and participation in the activities that matter to them. These activities can include dressing, toileting, feeding, bathing, community safety, handwriting and readiness to learn.
This is achieved through a menu of packages including:
Universal
- Parent workshops: such as toileting, handwriting, independence, selective eating
- Staff training sessions and drop-ins
- Environment audits with recommendations
- School-wide resources
Targeted
- Small group sessions for shared needs: handwriting, dressing, cutlery skills, road safety, transition to secondary school
Specialist
- Individual child assessments where needed
- Tailored advice and coaching for staff
Prices are available on request and the package can be tailored to the needs of your school.

Children's physiotherapy service
The children's physiotherapy service works in partnership with schools to enable children with additional needs to access and participate in activities. In addition to the NHS service, schools can purchase additional support to develop teachers skills in:
- Inclusion of disabled students in PE
- Inclusion of disabled students swimming
- Motor skill development of students with reduced co-ordination
- Managing accessibility and risk of the disabled child in the school setting
- Moving and handling training
- Risk assessment training in relation to moving and handling
Sessions can be delivered for a number of staff within or out of the school setting. Multiple sessions can be offered alongside teaching and follow-up support. Training packages are interactive and include example assessment and outcome tools where necessary. (Please note, specific advice for a single child known to us is done on a 1:1 basis and as part of their NHS input).
Prices are available on request and the package can be tailored to the needs of your school.
