Overview
We are a forward thinking, informed and expert service continuing a school-led approach to improvement. This is built out of the local culture of strong moral purpose, high support and strong challenge that characterised and underpinned education in Hackney over the last 23 years.
Our School Improvement Partner (SIP) Programmes are designed to respond to your needs and to where you are in your improvement journey. The objective is to help you develop your school taking evidence-informed approaches based on building strong relationships and rapport.
We work to understand your context and help you identify and implement key priorities for improvement and act as a catalyst for the creation of a vision of excellence to guide your school on its journey to improved performance and results.
What's included?
Our school improvement partners are skilled at building rapport with their schools, getting to know the systems, values and internal routines of each.
They advocate for excellence, equity, equality, inclusivity, wellbeing and safeguarding and can be a critical friend to ensure you receive timely support and response.
We understand the scale of the challenge facing schools, academies, federations and trusts. We are adept at working with national accountability and assurance framework and can offer inclusion reviews to help schools understand and gain a holistic insight into how they go about engaging and supporting their whole community to do well.
Invariably all school improvement work involves gathering and looking at data and other information, curiosity and powerful open questions in a spirit of appreciative inquiry, challenge and collaboration.
Our school improvement partners can provide a programme of half-day, on-site visits, resulting in a written report, usually two sides of A4.
The focus, schedule and activities will be agreed with the school. This may include, but is not limited to reviewing, affirming and validating the quality of education, identifying priorities and determining strategies for improvement.
An example programme could consist of:
- Autumn term - focus on context and circumstances, current outcomes and achievements, subject performance, priorities and forward plans
- Spring term - focus on evidence of progress, is curriculum working for all students, what work is taking place to advance equity, equality, inclusivity and belonging, how is diversity celebrated
- Summer term - focus on progress against school plan, how does the school monitor and improve behaviour, attendance and attitudes, how are leaders developing students, wider pastoral work with families
