Free music review and development session

Overview

Free of charge

Hackney Music Service (HMS) offers every school in the borough an annual review and development meeting absolutely free of charge.

The current focus, in line with the National Plan for Music Education, is to support all schools to develop a strategic school music development plan, ensuring that all children access a meaningful and progressive musical education.

HMS has developed a range of self-evaluation tools that we can support schools to complete, and a Development Plan template that links to these audit tools.

The meetings can also be used to provide advice and support on the planning and delivery of the school music curriculum, developing in-school vocal strategies, developing creative practice, creating stronger links between existing music curriculum and co-curricular provision, developing partnerships, identifying CPD needs and equipment audits.

In addition HMS offers all schools in the Hackney Music Service Network free of charge access to termly network meetings. Examples of themes covered include Ofsted preparation, anti-racist music classrooms, SEND inclusion, Yr 6/7 transition, singing schools, and cross-curricular links.
