Safer recruitment, faster
Disclosure and Barring Service checks are a critical part of the safeguarding process for staff with access to children or vulnerable adults.
Our aim is to make things as easy as possible for you through our efficient and simple to use DBS online service. There are no paper application forms to complete, and our DBS online form is automatically validated, meaning errors and returned forms are a thing of the past.
We send your application to the DBS within one working day of receipt and the majority of results come back from the DBS within two days.
We have extensive experience of the process and have provided CRB Checks and DBS Checks since the introduction of the CRB in 2002, processing disclosure applications for Hackney schools, Hackney Education and many other organisations.
DBS check online
Our fast and friendly service will enable you to obtain DBS checks and renewals for all your staff and volunteers by following our three-step online process – set up, apply, verify.
Our team train your staff to use our web-based DBS Online system so that they can set up individuals who require a DBS check and can verify their identify documents.
Once trained:
- Set up: You set up details of who requires a DBS check. The system will e-mail the applicant a link to the system.
- Apply: Applicant completes the simple, easy-to-follow disclosure application online. Our system will confirm that their application has been completed successfully and explain the documents they require to verify their identity.
- Verify: You verify the applicant’s documents and confirm their identity on the system.
You also have access to our qualified team of experts throughout the process.

Testimonials
"The new online DBS system is great, I wish we had had it years ago. From an administrative point of view it is easy to use, the chase up reminders are automatic and the checks come back very quickly. I would highly recommend it."
Karin Farrelly, William Patten Primary School
"The online DBS service and the support team is a life saver. From the minute I set up a new candidate or renew an existing one, the system sends emails to remind the candidate to complete the DBS application. I would definitely recommend this service to any organisation."

Frequently asked questions
What is DBS or CRB check?
A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check was previously known as a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check. This changed in 2012, when the Disclosure and Barring Service was formed to replace the Criminal Records Bureau and the Independent Safeguarding Authority. CRB Checks became DBS Checks.
There are four levels of DBS check: Basic, Standard, Enhanced (excluding Barred List checks) and Enhanced (including Barred List checks). Depending on the level it will show an individual’s spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings. It may also contain additional information held by the DBS or Police relating to an individual’s suitability for employment.
What is a Standard DBS Check and an Enhanced DBS Check?
Standard and Enhanced checks can only be obtained for certain eligible roles (usually when someone is working in a role that involves contact with children or adults in vulnerable positions). Standard and Enhanced checks are therefore more thorough than the Basic check.
Can an individual apply for a Standard or Enhanced check?
Only organisations can apply for a Standard or Enhanced check - an individual cannot apply. However, as a Local Authority we are able to obtain a Standard or Enhanced DBS check for individuals (self-employed), depending on the nature of the work and where you are based.
How long will the DBS check take?
We submit applications to the Disclosure and Baring Service within one working day of receipt.
The majority of our results come back from the DBS within two days. However, each check can take a different amount of time depending on its complexity. Common causes of delay are:
- Information on the DBS application is not accurate or does not match information on a previous application
- The information does not match police records
- Queries as to whether the applicant is eligible to be checked
- The applicant has a criminal record
