Overview
This programme offers whole class West African drumming and dance workshops including playing djembes, singing and dancing. Tutors visit three hours a week for a 10-week term. Extra weeks can be purchased. Sessions generally take place on Wednesdays.
Morning sessions can cater for three classes and afternoon sessions can cater for two classes with an after-school club. The material taught is performed at the end of the residency.
Cost £2,600 per ten week project (extra weeks pro rata).

This is a unique opportunity and experience led by highly experienced tutors, including a former member of the Emashi African Dance Group and Hackney dancer in-residence rated Outstanding by Ofsted.
It provides children the chance to learn unique and diverse musical skills including West African drums and percussion, folk songs and dances.
The service allows a holistic musical experience for children, and emphasises inclusion and participation, including children with additional needs. It provides students with the musicianship skills essential to succeed in learning to play an instrument, and helps to develop their love of music.
Our Music Service is responsive and flexible, with talented teachers and partnerships with world-class national, regional and local ensembles, organisations and groups. We offer advice and guidance on curriculum music and development, as well as support in monitoring progress in music for all. The service also provides opportunities to nurture and develop young musical talent through frequent major performances in public venues. All our music tutors are DBS checked and quality assured.
